As it is
planned , the construction will be completed till the end of this year (in October), and Diageo expects to have rum in the aging barrels by December.
It should be marked that the agreement regarding this facility, signed by Diageo and the government of the Virgin Islands in June, 2008 provides Diageo with nearly 3 billion dollars in tax breaks over the next 30 years. These are marketing subsidies, a 90% reduction in corporate-income taxes, exemption from property taxes and others.
