Coca-Cola has opened the largest in USA bottle-to-bottle recycling plant.

source: thecocacolacompany.com

That is a common project of the Coca-Cola Company and URR (United Resource Recovery Corporation). The plant is situated in South Carolina and will be a key recycling capacity for Coca-Cola cans and bottles in America.

It is expected that the plant will produce about 100 million pounds of food-grade recycled PET plastic each year.

The meaning of this quantity becomes clearer, if you imagine two billion 20-ounce Coca-Cola bottles. That is nearly the same quantity. Also, over the ten years the plant will prevent the release of one million metric tons of CO2 emissions (the equivalent of removing 215 000 cars from the road).
