Heineken takes the UEFA Champions League Trophy to Africa.

On January 19th, 2009 the brand announced about the series of Heineken Trophy events for football fans in Nigeria, Algeria, Egypt and South Africa, in order to give them a possibility to see and to touch the famous Trophy and to meet with famous football players.

For this, there are several reasons:

Firstly, “Heineken is the most international premium beer brand on the planet”, - says Hans Erik Tuijt, Heineken’s Brand Activation Manager.

Secondly, this beer is available in 51 of the 53 African countries while in some of them the brand is active since 1900.

Also, there are a lot of African players (Samuel Eto'o, Djimi Traore, Benni McCarthy and so on) who have won the European Champion Clubs’ Cup /UEFA Champions League.

All details about Heineken Trophy events could be reached here (pic.). It should be marked that in 2008 more than 51 000 fans saw the Trophy in South America.
