Hewlett-Packard and Rick Smolan known for such bestsellers as “America 24/7” and “Day in the Life”, made a a book about Barack Obama, his way to the White House and his first 100 days in the White House’s office.
It was named “The OBAMA Time Capsule” (pic.), and the main feature of this product is a possibility of customization. It means, that every user can buy this book at Amazon.com and try a special Hewlett-Packard’s service, sending some words and own photos to publishers.
As a result, there is a special book with a personalized dedication page, user’s name on the cover and title page as co-author, a user’s personal photo displayed on book’s back cover and so on.
All details are at
theobamatimecapsule.com .
It should be marked that to make it possible, Hewlett-Packard developed a web-based platform for its
HP Indigo digital presses.
The process was named the “democratic publishing”.
