Honda will build the new R&D facility.

It will be the Fundamental Technology Research Center that will work on bio-ethanol production technology – its development and its application to production.

It will be situated in the Chiba prefecture, Japan, and its construction is scheduled to begin in April 2009 (with the goal to begin operations in November 2009).

It should be marked that Honda has collaborative research on bio-ethanol production technology with RITE since 2006. It has been conducting research on the bio-ethanol conversion process using an experimental plant in the Saitama prefecture, Japan.
