But the origin of this name and the origin of this recipe, indeed, are not clear:
It is said that the cocktail was invented by Fernand Petiot, a bartender from the New York Bar in Paris, in 1921. The other legend tells, it was created by George Jessel, an American actor, singer and producer, around 1939. Also, there are several versions as for its name and, of course, a lot of variants to prepare this cocktail in modern bars and restaurants.
So, Ketel One and the restaurant guide “SquareMeal” decided to solve this mishmash at least in London and to find a London bar with the perfect “Bloody Mary”.
Since 1st to 31st May partners want Londoners to obtain the Bloody Mary Cheque Book from the “SquareMeal” to taste the “Bloody Mary” in London bars and to share their impressions with Ketel One and the guide.
The best place to drink the perfect “Bloody Mary” will be announced in June.
