McDonald’s applied to register the Maccy D's trademark (pic.).

source: ipo.gov.uk

Maccy D's is a slang word used in Britain to mention McDonald’s in a conversation. McDonald’s wants to protect it in the 43rd class that means “services for providing food and drink, temporary accommodation and restaurant services”.

As a matter of fact, it is an official recognition of Maccy D's from the direction of McDonald’s.
