Starbucks became a subject of one more book.
In contrast to the biographical story
“How Starbucks saved my life” that describes searches of the sense of life in crisis times, the book written by the Temple University professor Bryant Simon offered a new way to study America – by Starbucks coffee.
To write his “Everything but the coffee” (pic.), he visited 435 Starbucks in the USA and 10 other countries, analyzing everything from the flooring to the signage and everyone from the customers to the brands’ founders and CEO. For instance, he told a story of the first coffee cup of
Jarry Baldwin, who along with Gordon Bowker and Zev Siegl started Starbucks in 1971.
“My first adolescent cup of coffee was when I was forteen years old”, – Baldwin said. “It tasted awful… Whenever I went coffee usually looked the same – light brown and almost see-through”.
It’s a nice reading.
