Debenhams, a retail-brand which has 153 stores across the UK and Ireland and 51 international franchise stores in 18 countries, decided to study the purchase of men’ underwear.

It was found that men buy their underwear themselves only over a 17 year period in their lifetime. This period is interluded by a mother’s care (till 19 years old) and followed by a woman’s care (after 36 years old).

According to Debenhams, girls began to buy lingerie themselves much more early – in average, in 13. Doing this, they care about themselves, while guys think about their underwear seriously only in 23 years old – when begin relationships.

The buying peak comes at 23.

Debenhams surveyed 1 000 men during September and October, 2009.
