It combined a lot of events and surveys, and for the 5th anniversary the brand unveiled some new data. Dove has asked women about advertising images – do women like them or not, and what impression these images left.

It has been found that 69% of women feel beauty advertisers are selling them unattainable images of perfection, and 40% of them have low body confidence as a consequence.

Dove points, that in 2004 74% of women wanted to see more real women used in beauty advertising, while in 2009 already 95% thought advertising images should be more real. At that, the majority (96%) of women would like advertisers to be honest about the extent to which they airbrush or digitally manipulate images, and 42% confirmed they could not define if the ad image was airbrushed.

The survey for Dove was conducted by the Redshift company among 1 037 of British women aged 18-65 (September –October, 2009).
