The end of the year is always a time to sum up, and Google as usual named the most popular searches of 2009 – Google Zeitgeist (pic.).

This year, the fastest rising searches were Michael Jackson, social networks Facebook and Tuenti, a microblogging service Twitter, a Sanalika game, a sequel of the story about vampires “New Moon”, Lady Gaga, Windows 7, dantri.com.vn and Torpedo Gratis.

As for the food & drink searches, the number one was “acai berry”, a fruit of the acai palm tree, most known as a weight loss supplement. Michael Jackson, “Transformers” and Eminem achived top positions in the entertainment searches rating.

Also, there are some everlasting questions, such as how to kiss. It has been the hottest “how to” search last year and remains it this time. Also, Google users want know “how to draw” and “how to knit”.

Interestingly, how Google users wishes differ from country to country. For instance (pic.), Russian internet users want (translated): “a girl”, “to sleep”, “to live”, “a dog”, “to be pregnant”, “a lot of money”, “to believe”, “to fall in love”, “to work” and “to know what they want”.

The most popular “why” questions to Google in Russia are “why I am lonely”, “why the sky is blue” and “why dollar rises”. Also, a love and loneliness were often felt by British users.
