Intangible Business, the independent brand valuation consultancy, every year makes its special report of the world biggest spirits and wine brands (the Power Brands 2008) based on several factors that define a brand’s power.

These are a market share, a projected growth based on 10 years historical date and future trends, a number of markets with a brand’s significant presence and many others.

In 2008 Smirnoff became the world’s top wine and spirits brand followed by Johnnie Walker, Bacardi, Martini, Hennessy, Absolut vodka that was bought by Pernod Ricard in March, 2008, Jack Daniels, Chivas Regal, Baileys and Ballantines.

Some brands made a significant growth comparing with results of 2007. A Johnnie Walker brand is one of them. It replaced Bacardi as the world’s second most powerful brand and it continued to growth.

In the short list of vodka brands there are Smirnoff, Absolut, Grey Goose, Stolichnaya, Finlandia, SKYY and Ketel One. The rum top consists of Bacardi, Captain Morgan, Havana Club, Cacique and Castillo (pic.).
