In order to understand, what is more important for modern college students,
Twix asked them about the time they were taking a “pause” from studying.
It was found, that technology had changed the way students interact and how much they did it. The survey reveals that nearly 63% of students would choose technology over a relationship – compared to 20 years ago, when most Gen X co-eds would gladly have swapped a computer for some loving (65%).
Also, Twix has defined that only 4% of students think the library is a campus necessity. Others are quite happy with Internet or social media as the number one thing they couldn't live without at college.
This situation caused a real revolution in a typical on-campus interaction. Today, the majority of conversations is four times more likely to be via technology than 30 years ago, when 81% of conversations were face-to-face.
The survey for Twix was conducted by Impulse Research among more than 1 000 Americans (November, 2009).
